What a tripwire does

A tripwire is a low-friction paid offer intended to convert a prospect into a customer and create a logical path toward a larger solution.

Relevance matters more than cheapness

The small product should solve a real slice of the same problem. A random discount item can create buyers who have no interest in the core offer.

Economics must include fulfillment and refunds

A front-end offer can offset acquisition cost, but only after payment fees, delivery cost, support, refunds and downstream conversion are considered.

Keep upsells coherent

The next offer should help the buyer get more value from what they just purchased. Irrelevant one-click offers may raise short-term order value while reducing trust.

Test against a simpler funnel

Sometimes a free lead magnet or direct core offer produces better economics. Compare customer acquisition and downstream value, not only front-end conversion rate.
